Dear Cabbie’s Mate user – we would appreciate your help.
We often get emails requesting to purchase a new Cabbie’s mate unit. Statistically our 5” unit, operating on the Windows CE platform was identified as the customers’ favourite due to its pocket size, in cab placement ease, portability and reliability.
Although many of the 4.3” units are still around and nearly all 5” units are still in use, the reality is, they have come to the end of their life expectancy. We can no longer repair 4.3” as we do not hold spare parts and after the end of this year, we will not be able to replace LCD’s on 5” units. We have already run out of main boards for 5” units.
We are evaluating potential customer interest and require commitments before deciding. This might be the last opportunity to get hold of a stand-alone Cabbie’s Mate A-Z unit or upgrade your old one. If we confirm that the interest has reached the required threshold, a £50 deposit will be required to show your commitment, which will be deducted from the purchase price of £295.
Taking into account the current climate in the industry, we have been looking into how we can keep the price low by streamlining the unit. We would remove the navigation, Bluetooth and FM transmitter. Cabbie’s have told us that they mainly use the A-Z maps with POI and if required they can use the Google map on the phone for navigation.
